Minutes: GMATUCs Open Organising Meeting: Thursday 16th August 2012
Transport for TUC Demo “A Future That Works” – Radisson Edwardian Hotel, 6.00pm before Peterloo Commemoration Event.
GMATUCs will co-ordinate transport for non-trades unionists in Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Stockport, Rochdale and Oldham. GMATUC’s has now booked and paid for 2 coaches. Tameside NUT has offered spare seat capacity from their allocation of train seats for £20.00 return. Talks are continuing to see if we can negotiate more train tickets for people with mobility difficulties and pensioners for example who will receive priority travel by train to London.
Non-trades unionists in Bolton, Bury, Tameside and Wigan will need to contact their local trades council. All contact details for regional Trades Unions and Trades Councils are available on the Manchester TUC web-site www.manchestertuc.org/resources
We are going to construct a timeline to identify events where we would like to have transport stalls to collectively raise money. These details will be posted on Manchester TUC website with date, time, venue, and local contact person for any relevant event: Moss Side Carnival, Wigan Diggers Festival, stalls at student freshers’ week and Manchester Pride etc.
21K GMATUC’s leaflets have now been produced and will be available next week. 10k leaflets will be available for collection in central Manchester at the Mechanics Institute (by the ground floor lift, and will be placed under the leaflet stand).
To facilitate leaflet circulation by e-mail a lower resolution version of the leaflet will be produced.
Manchester Trades Union Council has also agreed to use their web site as a reference point for regional transport, please continue to send information: type of transport, location, contact person and contact mobile number/email. http://www.manchestertuc.org/,

GMATUC has produce a transport ticket booking form available on MTUC web site. The principle is for transport to be free with a £5 refundable deposit / donation. Trade unionists and people in work to be encouraged to donate a more realistic full cost price for transport.
To ensure the fewest possible empty seats on coaches there should be no anonymous block booking of seats from localities. Named persons must be identified.
GMATUCs has launched a 15K Appeal Fund template available on MTUC web site to fill at least 12 coaches in order to double the number of people attending the last TUC demo.
Pledges to the Appeal Fund have been received from Salford TUC.
Appeal Fund Collection at Peterloo Commemoration Event: £100.00
GMATUCs secretary named as Disability Co-ordinator (help from anti- ATOS campaigners much appreciated to help people with a disability get from home to coach pick up points/ train station).
