The Cuts and the LGBT Community
A NW TUC LGBT Network event
Saturday 15 October 10.30 – 1.30,
Mechanics Centre, Major Street entrance, Manchester
Speakers include Maria Exall, Chair of the national TUC LGBT Committee and Alan Manning TUC North West Regional Secretary and there will be a structured workshop session to discuss a programme of activities.
Refreshments and sandwich lunch provided.
The government is forcing through the fastest, deepest cuts in living memory. These reckless spending cuts put LGBT equality at grave risk.
- massive reduction in local authority funding for voluntary sector groups
- cancellation of gender reassignment surgery on the NHS
- colossal cut in police budgets, which will undermine the fight against hate crime.
- education reforms will give a green light for more prejudice against LGBT pupils and staff.
Black and white, men and women, young and old, gay, straight, bi or trans - when it comes to fighting these cuts, we are all in it together.
Together we need to get organised, get active, and get campaigning.
This half day NW TUC event will hear from speakers about the TUC’s campaign and about the particular dangers for the LGBT community. We will then have a more detailed planning session of activities that we will wish to promote.
This is an NW TUC LGBT Network event – All are Welcome - just let us know if you are coming so that we can organise the space and refreshments.
