UNISON and EIS join N30
…………. UNISON members vote YES ………… EIS members vote YES ……….
Over 1 million UNISON members are now set to join the pensions strike on N30. This takes the number of people currently committed to strike to approaching 2 million, with the GMB and UNITE still balloting their members.
UNISON members voted by 78% to strike on a 29% turnout – a bigger percentage than Cameron and co can claim.
EIS members voted 82% to strike on a 54% turnout. Their 58,000 members will be out on N30.
They join the 750,000 members of the PCS, UCU, NUT and ATL who are already committed to strike.
Next Key Dates
The NAHT headteachers ballot closes on 9th November.
The FDA, First Division Association (senior civil servants) is balloting 10,000 members. It closes on 14th November.
Prospect is balloting 30,000 members in the Civil Service. It closes on 14th November.
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) ballot closes on 14th November.
The GMB ballot opened on 31st October and closes on 16th November.
UNITE is balloting its 250,000 members in the public sector. It’s ballot opened on 26th October and closes on 16th November.
The NASUWT teachers union is balloting 200,000 members. The ballot closes on 17th November.
The probation officers union NAPO ballot closes on 17th November.
UCATT are balloting members in local government, the NHS and civil service.
Build November 30
Over the next 2 weeks anyone in a union which is still balloting should go all out to make sure there is a big YES vote.
November 30 will be one of the biggest strikes Britain has ever seen. The ConDem’s attempt to split the movement this week should strengthen the resolve of every union activist to make sure N30 is a huge success.
Coming out of November 30 we need to make sure that the resistance to the ConDems increases on every front – pensions, cuts, wages, services, health, education, students. The ConDems have united the resistance, lets make sure it destroys them!
