A letter to Primary School Heads

The Anti Academies Alliance has written to every Primary School Headteacher this week.
We know that many Primary Heads are very unhappy about the pressure that is growing to become an Academy, and about the threat to turn 700 Primaries which Gove calls 'under performing' into Academies.

This is typical of the replies we have received
“A 'good' school is a complex weave of literacy, numeracy, broad learning experiences, ethos, personality and innovative thinking etc. Politicians are meddling and using crass criteria to judge school success.”

Another school to rejects Academy Proposal

Forefield Junior School in Crosby, Liverpool have rejected the idea of becoming an Academy

Their newsletter reports
"At its meeting on 16th June 2011, the Governing Body of Forefield Junior School decided not to pursue Academy Status for the school as it considered that Academy Status would bring no benefits to the children of our school."

Please let us know if you know of a school that has rejected becoming an Academy. We know that often Academy proposals get no further than an initial discussion, but this is rarely reported.
